About Alex

From August 2013 through August 2014 Alex served as a Young Adult Volutneer (YAV) with Boston Faith and Justice Network and the Presbyterian Church in Burlington Massachusettes. His work involved promoting better food purchasing choices as an act of discipleship for the Burlington community and he brought justice, poverty, wages, health, and other big picture questions to the conversation of food as a ministry from the church.

This site shares stories and insights Alex gained from this wonderful experience, and links to other relevant sites.

From August 2014-August 2015 Alex served as a YAV again in Little Rock Arkansas incorporating sustainability, energy, and environmental issues into the justice, poverty, and missional aspects of the church through Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center.  Read more about Alex's work at Ferncliff and Little Rock at http://feedthesheepferncliff.blogspot.com.

Alex hails from Millboro, Virginia and claims the entire western half of the state his home town.  He attended Craigsville Elementary, Beverly Manor Middle, Bath County High, and James Madison University.  Alex has a degree in Integrated Science and Technology, a Math minor, and an Environmental Management Minor with a heavy interest in solar cooking and other appropriate technologies.

Alex is seeking a job in something that can build up the kingdom of God, or build a more sustainable future, however you want to say it.  The YAV experience has helped Alex see the connection between our Christian faith, and the actions lead by our secular neighbors of caring for neighbors and creation.
